KAFKAESQUE

A “bureaucratic snafu” has caused me to resign my part-time substitute teacher gig.

I enjoyed being a sub...and (I think) was good at it. My experience has been that very few people actually enjoy the job, and even fewer are good at it. Seems like schools should want people like me as subs.

Of course I liked being a full-time teacher, too. That didn’t change the fact that public schools wouldn’t pay me a living wage...that I and my colleagues were managed like turn-of-the-last-century factory workers.

Well...I’m out, now. Won’t return. And though I am upset today (mostly because I’d not yet subbed for my own children), my indignation will fade in a day or two. I’m not one for grudges.

While that Rube Goldbergesque, wheezing, sputtering monstrosity...the American public school...slouches along just fine. Same-as-it-ever-was.
