ACTIVITIES!

I am done with great things and big plans, great institutions and big successes. I am for those tiny, invisible loving human forces that work from individual to individual, creeping through the crannies of the world like so many rootlets, or like the capillary oozing of water, yet which, if given time, will rend the hardest monuments of pride. - William James

I’ve really identified with this quote for some time now...though I’ve not really reconfigured my various plans for rootlet scale. Rather, my “big plans” tend to involve loving human forces working individual to individual. A kind of yes-and approach.

Working on this play in the garage with John Ellis...it’s been a lot of fun. Primarily because we’ve been riffing on each other’s ambition, I think. No egos in conflict, just the thrill of building a fort in the woods…

...or bunk beds with your step brother.

  1. They say that William James wrote his philosophy books like he was writing novels and Henry James wrote his novels like he was writing philosophy.
