When you have kids, you’re so overwhelmed by how they are being raised, it’s rare to actually notice other kids in the neighborhood being brought up.Though one must assume that Phineas McHenry’s parents love him very much, their laissez-faire parenting approach seems downright peculiar. Watching him interact with the world, is like having a living, social experiment unfold before your very eyes.
When I saw him yesterday, he was asking the lady at Hot Topic if he should buy a record (an actual LP) by some disposable punk band. She asked if he had a record player. He said no...and bought it.
Phineas has a new iPhone almost every month. Seems he keeps losing his. Or breaking it. Or just wanting a new one.
Phineas McHenry stories will be a regular part of this journal going forward. I am eager to see how this experiment turns out.
Jesus. I know this kid. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI changed the name...but it is similar to the real kid's name. Do you REALLY know him? Blond? 7th grade?
ReplyDeleteWell ... not really, no. But I do share your disdain for bad parenting. (Actually, that's not the complete truth. I disdain the products of bad parenting, too ... regardless of age.)
