It’d be difficult to find any corporation that shares more of its profits on charitable causes than U2. And yet, the band has been decried for trying to minimize its corporate taxes…”at a time when Ireland desperately needs the income.”
If you think U2 needs to pay more taxes, that it’s a “problem” they’ve relocated their corporate headquarters to the Netherlands for a more favorable business climate…if you think paying taxes is a “patriotic duty” for rich folks…well, you’re pretty damn bossy.
Here’s a company who is doing it right. Sharing their wealth with the world…as they see fit, not their government.
They’ve made a ton of money selling their music for 25 years. And all along the way, they’ve shared that wealth with charities and causes—many that didn’t even exist before U2 got behind them.
U2 should be rewarded, not punished for sharing as generously as they have.
