ESSENTIAL

Internal reviews are terrifying.

Your closest friends may not be on the same page. And if they’re not, challenging days lie ahead...as you exit the organization or lead your team towards compromise.

But external reviews are worse!

They make you to look out...into your community...and invite them in. You force yourself to listen and hear what people actually think.

There will be scattered and confusing ideas in the community about what you are and what you do. Some people will think of you like the symphony, others will see you as a daycare. There will be some who think of you as a business, others, a charity. Some people will know absolutely nothing about you. Others will “know” plenty...all of it wrong.

Some people will tell you that the community will be just fine without you. Most of us aren’t essential to our communities.

Are you?
