EXTERNAL

Next, Executive Directors must conduct an “External Vision Audit.”

Ask 25 community leaders, business people, educators, church-goers, and bar-hoppers of various age, race, and sex:

1) What do you know about our organization? If anything, how would you describe what goes on here to your family, friends, or colleagues?

2) When was the last time you saw any play or musical? How did it affect you? Could you imagine participating in productions, attending them, even helping guide and manage them as playing a greater role in your life?

3) Be brutally honest here: can this community do without us? Explain why you think it could...or why it could not.

And you thought the internal interviews were tough!

The “external” people you speak with are less familiar with you and your organization, and have wide-ranging opinions and ideas about your group’s value to the community.

Exciting, eh?
