In 2001 it struck me as particularly wasteful to write the year as “01.” As in “05/20/01.” Why the need to precede with a zero? The year was the first of a new century. It should just be called “1.” “5/20/1.” Honestly...does that confuse anyone?
I’ve written my year dates as single digit all decade. Eh...I’m eclectic, I guess.
The “aughts” have never quite felt like a decade because we never did agree on what to call them. Remember the Seventies? The name of the decade evokes specific memories. The Thirties...the Sixties...even the Nineties have a clear sense of identity. But...the Zeroes?
In a couple of days the Teens will start. Only...the first three years won’t actually be teens. Is that a problem?
