I met Graciecoe during my latest guest artist residency at Carlbrook School. (Her dad is some sort of big shot at Carlbrook...insists on being addressed as “my liege” by the students...wears a rather self-important, blue-velvet stovepipe with the words “RESPECT THE HAT” emblazened across the crown.)
Graciecoe likes the fact that whenever I see her, I “say something funny.” Fair enough. Though I’ve explained to her at length that my theories on mythopeia are not meant to amuse...rather, to enlighten.
“It is a literary genre that is very popular, Graciecoe...yet it is often improperly appreciated.”
It is good to have friends in far off places. They help us see ourselves...fresh. And in doing so, we remember who we were...and are meant to be.
Argh. Had to look it up. But now I have a genre to associate with the Holy Bible. Thank you.
