This is crossover week...when I work as a stage actor on two plays simultaneously.THE DUMB WAITER is Harold Pinter’s absurdist classic about two hit-men and...a dumb waiter. I play “Gus” (to John Ellis’ “Ben”...plus, we’re doing the play in a garage.)
AMADEUS is Peter Shaffer’s lavish costume drama about Mozart and a supposed rival, Austrian Court Composer, Antonio Salieri. I play Joseph II, Emperor of Austria.
I’m excited about both opportunities.
In WAITER, I get to play a hit-man, were a grungy three-piece suit, speak with a low-class British dialect, and point a pistol...like I may shoot it!
In AMADEUS, I’m the king, so I wear a ridiculous costume (and wig), work with David Sims (director) and Paul Savas (“Salieri”), and...say “Ah—there it is!”
Both plays were written by legendary British playwrights, and are rich in language and meaning.
Yes, yes ... but didn't get, like, totally married or something recently? Like, in the last few days? In reality, I mean? (And damn the rumor mills if they got this wrong.)
ReplyDeleteThe last post marked my 40th birthday. The next came seven days later. Draw your own conclusions...
ReplyDeleteI'll take that as a "mind your own damn business." Best wishes, anyway, whatever the occasion may be.
