I’m proud of my recent acting work in AMADEUS, which was decidedly…”character” in nature—show up, give the protagonist a problem to deal with, then get out. My emperor exists to present complications, not to distract, steal, or “star.”There’ve been many well-intentioned folks in my life who’ve offered unqualified advice and criticism...they were Joseph. And so was my pastor growing up in Columbia. The off-beat foot taps and knee slaps...those were his.
The “Shakes-speak” voice came from...somewhere. Not sure. Never quite figured that one out. Joseph needed to speak in an “elevated” fashion, with a certain cadence. One day he just started sounding all milordish.
Ultimately, Joseph was me six years ago. A pleasant bossman who enjoys his job and the people he works with...even if he’s in the wrong place at the wrong time...wearing another man’s suit of clothes.
