COUGHING

And another thing…

The idea that the Federal government can pass a law and make me buy something...anything...feels like state-sponsored consumerism to me.

I reject the idea that there is only one way Americans can get affordable health insurance: government mandate, more laws. Not saying I have the answer. But I trust human creativity.

I bet there are at least a hundred plausible answers to this problem. A gazillion different pathways that expand our thinking and utilize our intelligence.

But...this tired, old, Neutra-typeface thinking...where I turn off my brain, ignore my intellect and look to politicians to solve my problems...well that's just standard issue utopianism. And it's always made smart, creative people less free...and the bland more powerful.

Why isn’t anyone thinking anymore? Challenging the powers-that-be? Everyone trusts their government, now.
