DOORED

Ten years ago, I spent a Saturday (and then some) improvising a BLAIR WITCH PROJECT-inspired movie with Anderson, South Carolina-based filmmaker, Joe Hall.

BEHIND THE DOOR is a POV-horror flick about three teenagers who go to visit their mother at a mental institution, when...all hell breaks loose!

My friends and I played broke-loose crazy people.

Dean Poynor, Jack Silman, Richard Smith, Joanna Western, and I ran around an abandoned old hospital in Hartsville all night...improvising crazy.

Jack drew a spider web on his face with a Sharpie.

Joanna cried softly in a corner.

Richard posed as a doctor.

Dean screamed, “Marco!”

Then me: “POLO!”

I don’t think Joe ever finished the film. Wish he would. I’ll never forget making it.

(I can always trace the date: September 23, 2000. That day Eric Kimmrey threw The Fade and Lou Holtz’s USC Gamecocks beat Mississippi State.)
