I’ve been thinking about this short film idea for some time now.Father and daughter share a 10th birthday dinner at a fancy, downtown restaurant. They talk…it’s hit or miss...clear that Dad’s been going through some hard times. The bill comes. The credit card is declined. He steps out to make a call. The daughter passes her birthday cash to the server, pays the bill.
I like the idea of small children taking care of their parents. I’ve seen that happen in my own life many times...not financially necessarily, but in other small but meaningful ways.
And I’m very excited to get my daughter Harriet on screen with this project. My sense is that her performing instincts will serve the story well. Harriet can be still, focus, think. She hates it when kids “act”...
...works for cheap.
