COMPLICATE

There are artists among us who thrive on a Christmas-lights-tangle of process gone awry, interpersonal strum and drang, and the labyrinth of decisions gone unmade.

One might argue that artists who like it messy and complicated are not artists at all. Rather, they are hobbyists who enjoy dabbling in plays, choirs, or pottery. I see this point and cede it. Some folks just enjoy a fight. Many think overcomplicating matters proves they’re working hard.

Some believe that process painless is suspect...perhaps even invalid. And they are not just artists. They crop up everywhere: corporations, industry, churches, non-profits, education, athletics. Still...I think its time for a purge.

So. If you’re a fan of simplicity, elegance, and the genius of smart decisions rendered for the benefit and humanity of artists and audiences everywhere...please: rise up! Unite!

May we firmly and gently steer these poor, complicating souls towards...government bureaucracy.
