It is an odd request for an artsy cocktail party, but Eric eventually agrees to what Reg describes as a three-week, cross-country “road trip.” Eric needs the money. And…time away from Randi. Who is causing her usual stir…four glasses of wine, arms wrapped around the neck of a young painter…who she is deconstructing…mercilessly.

The two set out on their trek in Reg’s small sports car. From Western North Carolina, they follow winding Appalachian highways to their first stop…the cozy resort town of Gatlinburg. Where, from the conception of America’s mid-century “baby boom,” loving couples have come to consummate their love…and eat pancakes.

Reg takes to the streets with great energy, pressing his hand-held microphone toward many passersby, asking for their stories and opinions on the topic of “romantic love.”

He is good at this…instantly jocular with everyone he meets. Funny exchanges happen. Poignant exchanges happen. And Eric captures it all.
